We are very excited proud to announce that we are sponsoring Ashanti, a black eagle from Dullstroom Bird of Prey and Rehabilitation Centre. We have been to many of their demonstrations and the birds are majestic and beautiful. Please support them in their rehabilitation of Birds of Prey, and many others. Please do not put poison out for rodents, many birds die from secondary poisoning.

We support natural pest control!

Meet Ashanti

Ashanti, Black Eagle, Dullstroom

“Ashanti” the Verreauxs’ Eagle

Scientific: Aquila verreauxii

Afrikaans: Witkruisarend

This beauty is a new arrival from Vulpro in Hartbeespoort.  Her potential mate there had to be put down due to medical reasons.  It was decided to move her to the Dullstroom Bird of Prey and Rehabilitation Centre to see if she may bond with one of ours.  She was housed in an enclosure until she settled. She adapted well and they are now using her in the flying demonstrations.  She is really impressive.

History is scant, but from information they can gather she is a social imprint (i.e. Not afraid of humans) which does not allow them to release her back to the wild.
